Reaching for the Stars!
Wow! I wanted to take this month’s newsletter to brag on your kids. They have been working so hard over the last couple of weeks on reaching some of the goals we have set for ourselves as a class. One of those goals is to read for 45 minutes during independent reading time. We are currently at 38 minutes and that time is primarily spent sitting reading/responding in their reading club books. They are doing amazing and working so hard to complete these goals before the end of the year. I am so proud of them!
We are quickly closing in on the end of the school year, which brings a lot of exciting “lasts” and even a few “firsts”. Our last book orders for the year will be going out this month. We will not have one in May due to the BOGO book fair. Another last will be the last full month of 2nd grade. April is not as full with events, however May will be jam-packed with events so get ready for many notifications and notes as we get closer to May. Some exciting “firsts” come in the form of field trips. The students and I will get the opportunity to go to the Chaplin Nature Center and the Sedgwick County Zoo in the coming weeks. Please be looking for additional information and notes coming home soon!
REMINDER: In case of inclement weather, please check your local TV stations/radio stations and their websites in the case of school cancellations. Contact Cindy in the office if you need to update your contact information.
